Burwood Health is excited to announce that Jo, one of our registered nurses is now a Nurse Prescriber at Burwood Health.
As a highly trained registered nurse with additional prescribing qualifications, a Nurse Prescriber can assess a range of common ailments, initiate and adjust medications, and provide practical self-care advice—helping you get the right treatment faster, without always needing to see a doctor.
What Jo can help you with
Jo is able to assess and manage a variety of conditions, including:
-
Skin infections: cellulitis, boils, impetigo, insect bites, eczema
-
Uncomplicated urinary symptoms: urinary tract infection (UTI) presentations
-
Eye, ear and respiratory complaints: conjunctivitis, sore ears, coughs & colds, sore throats
-
Smoking cessation support: assessment and prescribing of nicotine replacement therapies
Important scope & prescribing note
Although Jo practices under the umbrella of Burwood Health’s clinical governance, her prescribing authority is limited to specific conditions and treatments. If your issue falls outside her approved scope—or if Jo determines that prescription or further investigation is required—you may be advised to book with one of our GPs for follow-up care. There is no guarantee that Jo will be able to prescribe or treat every problem on her first assessment, but she will always explain her recommendations clearly.
