Our team consists of General Practitioners, a GPEP Registrar, Nurse Practitioner, Health Improvement Practitioner and Health Coach as well as a dedicated team of nurses, reception / admin and Health Care Assistant to help patients.
Burwood Health is a teaching GP practice, where patient care and education go hand in hand. Our team is dedicated not only to providing exceptional healthcare but also to fostering the next generation of medical professionals through hands-on learning and mentorship.
We recommend that you have a primary doctor for ongoing issues. However, if you have an urgent problem and are unable to get an appointment with your regular doctor, one of the other GP’s or Nurse Practitioner will be able to see you. All requests for urgent appointments will be triaged by our clinical team.
Dr Tim Story
General Practitioner

Dr Tim Story completed his medical training in the UK, where he graduated from St George’s Hospital Medical School, London in 1992.
He then travelled to New Zealand, where he worked at Christchurch Hospital for two years, and this is where he met his wife, a New Zealander.
Dr Story and his family lived in the UK again for 8 years, where he completed his general practice training, before moving back to Christchurch in 2003 with three young children.
Upon returning to Christchurch, Dr Story joined Parklands Medical before becoming a GP at Burwood Health.
He enjoys the variety of work that his role offers and he strives to use his abilities to look after you and your family’s needs.
When not at work, Dr Tim Story enjoys travelling around New Zealand and exploring “the wonderful country we live in”

Dr Rebecca Langley
General Practitioner

Dr Rebecca Langley was born and raised in Christchurch. She is an Otago graduate and completed her GP training in Christchurch.
Dr Langley worked at Parklands Medical Centre for over 20 years where she went through a lot with her patients, developing some wonderful longstanding relationships, which are now continuing at Burwood Health.
Dr Langley enjoys her work as a GP and is interested in all aspects of medicine, particularly women’s health and menopause.
Outside of work, Dr Langley is a mum to four grown-up sons, including triplets and enjoys spending time in the outdoors. She enjoys mountain biking, tramping and walking in the Port Hills, but also some downtime at home. She is a keen gardener, cook and loves to read.

Dr Intan Md Tahir
General Practitioner
** Dr Intan Md Tahir is taking on new enrollments **
Dr Intan Md Tahir was born in Malaysia and moved to New Zealand to study Medicine at the University of Otago, graduating in 2012. She began her career at Christchurch Hospital and gained further experience in Australia at leading hospitals in Adelaide, Melbourne, and Tasmania.
Since returning to Christchurch in 2015, Dr Intan has completed her GP Fellowship (FRNZCGP) and postgraduate training in Women’s Health and Travel Medicine. Her passion for skin health led her to complete a Diploma in Dermatology, and she has been accepted into the New Zealand Society of Cosmetic Medicine’s Diploma programme commencing in 2026.
A member of the NZ College of Sexual and Reproductive Health, Dr Intan is qualified to insert and remove Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptives (LARC) and is an accredited trainer.
Dr Intan believes health is a partnership and aims to help her patients feel confident and their best. Outside work, she enjoys family time with her husband and two young children.

Dr Gort Stephan
General Practitioner

Dr Gort Stephan was born and raised in Germany, and completed his medical training in 1998.
In 2000, Dr Stephan moved to Christchurch, where he undertook postgraduate training and became a fellow of the New Zealand College of GP’s in 2007. For two (2) years, Dr Stephan worked in Sydney, before returning to Christchurch. He has spent the past 10 years, from 2010 to 2020, working as a locum at Ferrymead Medical Centre, before joining Burwood Health.
He enjoys assisting patients with the wide variety of medical problems that general practice brings and assisting them to achieve their best possible health.
Dr Gort Stephan is the practice’s lead GPEP Registrar trainer, he is passionate about fostering the next generation of medical professionals through hands-on learning and mentorship.
When not working, Dr Stephan enjoys spending time outdoors running, ski touring, tramping and canyoning. He also enjoys to travel both New Zealand and the world.

Dr Shirin Robinson
General Practitioner

Dr Shirin Robinson studied in Otago and completed her medical degree in 1992 and completed her General Practitioner training in the United Kingdom in 1999.
Over the years, Dr Robinson has worked in a range of hospital and GP clinics both in the UK and in New Zealand. She enjoys the diversity of her role and how it is a privilege to be a part of an individual or family’s health journey.
Shirin prides herself on being a caring and compassionate doctor who will continually work alongside her patients to achieve their overall health goals.
Dr Shirin Robinson is interested in skin excisions and Gynaecological and family planning procedures. Dr Robinson also has an interest in transgender health.
When not working at Burwood Health, Shirin enjoys spending time with her family, including her three children, who are all undertaking various studies and work around Aotearoa, her husband and her two dogs. She also enjoys participating in sports and being outdoors.

Dr Vidya Yugaraja

Dr Vidya Yugaraja was born in Sri Lanka and immigrated to New Zealand with her family as a young child. She spent majority of her childhood in Christchurch.
Vidya graduated from Otago University in 2016 and subsequently worked in Christchurch hospital across a range of specialities for 3 years before embarking her journey in General Practice.
Dr Yugaraja enjoys the diversity of family medicine and caring for patients of all ages and cultural background. She has a special interest in women’s health and is able to perform IUD insertions.
Outside of general practice, Vidya is a wife and mum of two young girls. She enjoys yoga/pilates, walks with her dog and exploring baby/toddler friendly activities with her family

Sarah has worked as a Registered Nurse in General Practice for the past 10 years. In 2020 she achieved Designated Nurse Prescribing status, and in 2022 gained a Master of Advanced Nursing Practice with Distinction.
Sarah is a strong advocate for the role of advanced nursing in General Practice and enjoys working alongside families and people of all ages to help them achieve better health and wellness.
Outside of work, Sarah enjoys living by the beach with her husband and two dogs, cooking for family and friends and reading.

Lauren has joined the team as our new Health Coach
Lauren grew up in rural Canterbury and has settled in Otautahi Christchurch after years abroad with such careers as a chocolatier and working in Antarctica. Coming home to Covid lockdown shifted her focus and sent her back to study. After much dedication to her education, Lauren has recently graduated with a Bachelor in applied Science (Human Nutrition) and a certificate in exercise which she is looking forward to utilizing her in role as Health Coach.
She has a passion for supporting people and the Health Coach role has been a perfect start to her new career path. Within this role, Lauren can support with any health and well-being concerns whether that be physical, emotional, mental or social. Lauren can also support people to help build their own skills, knowledge and confidence in making behavioural changes to manage and improve all aspects of their wellbeing.
Outside of work, Lauren loves to make the most of our local surrounding with walks or swims at the beach and bike rides in Bottle Lake Forest or the Port Hills, and her down time is spent pottering in the kitchen.
