Burwood Health is proud to offer a caring, accepting and safe environment for all of our patients.
Welcome to Burwood Health
At Burwood Health, we are committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered healthcare. Since opening in November 2019, we have continued to grow, expanding our services and team to better meet the needs of our community.
As a Pegasus Health practice, we are part of a network dedicated to improving primary healthcare services. We hold both Foundation Standards and Cornerstone Accreditation, reflecting our commitment to excellence, safety, and continuous improvement in patient care.
Our experienced team includes General Practitioners, nurses, and support staff, along with a Health Improvement Practitioner and a Health Coach, all working together to provide comprehensive medical care. As a teaching practice, we take pride in supporting the next generation of GPs, ensuring they gain valuable experience while enhancing the quality of care we offer.
Whether you need routine medical care, support for a long-term condition, or guidance on improving your well-being, Burwood Health is here for you.
Changes to Repeat Prescribing
Recent changes to prescribing regulations in New Zealand now allow some patients to be issued prescriptions for up to 12 months. However, this is entirely at the discretion of your GP and will depend on your individual clinical circumstances and whether your current medication is considered appropriate and safe for 12-month prescribing.
If you would like to discuss whether you are eligible for 12-month prescribing, you will need to book an appointment with your GP. This cannot be requested through the patient portal or via email prescription requests, as a clinical review is required before any changes are made. Even if you are issued a 12-month prescription, pharmacies are still only able to dispense a maximum of three months’ supply (or less) at a time.
The key change is that, once a 12-month prescription is in place, you won’t need to contact the practice for repeat prescriptions during that period. If you are well and no review is required sooner, we look forward to seeing you again in 12 months’ time.
Stay Protected: Check Your Measles Immunisation Status
With recent cases of measles appearing in Aotearoa New Zealand, it’s more important than ever to make sure you are up to date with your Measles (MMR) vaccinations.
If you’re unsure about your immunisation status, or whether you may be eligible for a funded MMR vaccine, please get in touch with our team — we’re happy to check your records and advise you.
You are eligible for a funded Measles (MMR) vaccine if you:
- Were born after 1969 and
- Have not received two documented doses of the MMR vaccine
- Or if your vaccination history is unknown or incomplete
- Children receive funded doses as part of the National Childhood Immunisation Schedule
Most adults need two doses for full protection.
Protect yourself, your whānau, and our community — check your vaccination status today. If you’re unsure, contact the practice and we’ll help guide you.
