Bridget has joined Burwood Health as our Health Improvement Practitioner.

Bridget originates from Otautahi/Christchurch and returned to Aotearoa New Zealand from stints living in the US and the UK to complete her Bachelor in Social Work (Hons) and Post-Graduate Certificate in Adult Mental Health and Addictions in the late 2000’s. She has worked in Specialist Mental Health Services in both Otautahi and Melbourne since graduating, specializing in young people and early intervention psychosis work.

Bridget has recently transitioned to working in the primary health care arena, joining us as a Health Improvement Practitioner. Within this role she specializes in behaviour change for the life problems that are impacting on people’s health and well-being. She is utilising Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help people name the issues within their lives, and identify ways in which to bring about meaningful change.

Outside of work Bridget is a keen tramper and has recently walked the length of Te Waipounamu/South Island, a 1300km journey which took 12 weeks to complete. She is also a proud Bird Nerd and is passionate about saving our indigenous species.
