STRESS MANAGEMENT

STRESS MANAGEMENT

The festive season is a time that brings together friends and whanau and offers a chance for celebration.

However, the festive season is not always fun for everyone, and instead can be a stressful time. Here are a few ways to help manage your stress this season.

1. Set Boundaries
Knowing and understanding your limitations is an important way to be able to set boundaries if you become uncomfortable during the day. Boundaries can include interactions with family members and friends, food and alcohol consumption and knowing when it’s time to head home.

2. Avoid Conflict
Conflict can happen, even during the festive season. Help manage your stress by staying away from conflict, removing yourself from the situation and not getting involved.

3. Limit Social Media
Social media is a great communication tool between friends and family, however, it can also be overwhelming, especially if you are stressed. Make sure you spend time away from your social media account this festive season.

4. Focus on what you can control
If you become overwhelmed during the Christmas season, focus on what you can control. Leave the party when you are ready, eat and drink what you would like (within reason), spend time doing the things you enjoy.

If you find that the festive season is becoming too difficult, help is available.
